a hidden beauty.

She wasn't the girl that everyone noticed when they looked around.  Yeah, she was pretty but she was not the girl everyone first thinks about when they listed off pretty girls.  She was not stick skinny, in fact she was extremely curvy.  Her hair was insanely curly and it wasn't always perfect.  Her skin had scattered freckles and if you looked close her skin had plenty of imperfections.  She wasn't drop dead gorgeous but i don't think she would want to be.

But once you talked to her she was all you could think about.  Her imperfections were scars from adventures she had been on. She never took something easy, she threw herself into it and sometimes it led to her being covered in scabs and bruises.  She honestly wouldn't have it any other way.  She didn't want flawless skin, she wanted it to tell a story and be full of memories.  Her hair was natural and if you asked her how she did it every morning she would confidently respond, "I just try not to anger the beast."  Her freckles were part of her and they had been  since she was a child.  She didn't know how they got there, they just kinda showed up.  Then she would smile and my gosh, she had a gorgeous smile, it made her bright blue eyes light up and in that moment she was one of the most beautiful human beings alive.  She was herself; adventurous, intelligent, sarcastic.  And for such a young person she had lived an exciting life, she was merely 18 and she had done things most people would never experience in the entirety of their lives.  She had seen things most people couldn't imagine and she had done what others would say was impossible.  But somehow she had done it all, and it had molded her soul into something that was unimaginably beautiful.  If only people gave her soul a chance, how beautiful she would become.

if only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies how very different our ideals of beauty would be.
