The first time.

Blue eyes and a mess of dark curls; one smile and he falls so fast he hits the ground before he has time to realize what is happening. He kisses her face-- on the small, soft spot beneath the corner of her eye, her forehead, her chin, along her jawline, her lips.  He gently presses his lips against her skin, every sense seems to be sharpened. All he wants is her and he hopes that the feelings he shows will instil the same emotions within her. He pulls back and looks at her face, his mind is immersed with questions that he is too scared to ask. Then she smiles, his mind goes blank. She is the most beautiful girl he has ever known.

He glances down at her. She has fallen asleep against his shoulder.  He  doesn't want to move; He doesn't want to wake her. He's never seen her this calm. Her normal smile and usual crinkled nose are lost in her peaceful slumber.  His mind journeys to his earliest memories of her. His first thoughts, her first smile, their first kiss. He remembers the first time they and the simple conversation they had during that one dance.  He remembers back when thoughts of her began to fill his mind, and how they have grown to consume his every thought.  He can't imagine life without her.

She looks up at him and bites her lip, he can't help but meet her lips with his. Everything about her draws him in: her inviting smile, her thirst for adventure, the way she looks into his eyes whenever they talk, everything she does seems to pull him closer to her.  When he kisses her he doesn't want to stop, but she's a tease and he only gets to kiss her for small moments.  So he gathers them up and puts each moment in a special place to always remember.

He has fallen in love with her.  His mind is enveloped by constant thoughts of her. But they all lead back to that first moment they met. That first dance they shared. The first time he realized he was in love with her.  And that moment seems endless.

He only knows her by a thousand moments but it feels like he has known her a thousand years.
